My pastor gave me this idea, and so my youth group did it and loved it.
The idea is to get the group together and split them off into 2 teams (you can do more depending on the size of the group). These two teams are then going to make their own movies. You as the youth leader will have created multiple themes from which the teams will pick (my themes were based on the stories “Goldilocks and the 3 Bears”, “Jack and the Beanstalk”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, and “The 3 Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf”). You will also provide the most random props you can find for them to use in their movies. Once the teams are chosen and they have their themes and their props, you turn them loose to film their movies. The movies must include at least 2 commercials, and credits must conclude the movies. Bloopers are optional. This is a great way to encourage unity and team work, as well as leadership amongst your youth group. The movies can be as long as you like (for our group, they were about 10 minutes long each). Have fun filming!
